VALORIZATION OF MENTAL HEALTH.
Jean-René Douville Tessier, alias JRD, is an artist with multiple influences. Drawing his inspiration from Japanese anime, American cartoons, skateboarding, pop culture and many other sources, he creates a unique universe. JRD’s approach is based on the decontextualization of his numerous references, which he reassembles around a new narrative. His figurative works incorporate a touch of abstraction, expressed by his keen sense of composition. Technique still occupies a central place in his practice, and JRD constantly explores new shapes, colors and elements to enrich his visual language and deepen the maturity of his compositions.
What are your core values?
My core values are authenticity, curiosity, community and optimism, with a touch of healthy competition.
What does your dream project look like?
My dream project would be a total takeover of a space – I’m talking about murals, artistic installations, and even furniture. Create an immersive world where everything is coherent, where viewers can live my visual universe and interact with it. I love mixing my different practices; when I can combine my cabinetmaking skills with painting, it’s always a success for me.
Describe your work in one sentence.
My work is a frozen window on a world of movement, color and controlled chaos.
What would you like to be recognized for?
I would like to be recognized for my personal style. I try to leave my visual footprint in each project I carry out. Sometimes style is the message.
What impact do you have with your artistic practice?
I simply aspire to make the world more beautiful and to offer people a moment of pause and contemplation.
